The ‡kamnin’tik Childrens Truth and Reconciliation Society promotes truth and reconciliation through cultural and educational programming, driven by Ktunaxa Nation citizens and Shuswap Indian Band members who are residential school and inter-generational survivors. The society is based out of the St. Eugene Resort located near Cranbrook, BC. The resort was the former Kootenay Indian Residential School.
The society works closely with the resort on initiatives of mutual benefits, like programming and advocacy.
Our Vision
A world of unity, respect and understanding of Ktunaxa Nation and Shuswap Indian Band cultures, history, languages, and futures.
Our Mission
Bring Indigenous inspiration and innovation in every engagement, and do everything possible to expand knowledge of Indigenous cultures and histories.
Our Principles
We are guided by the Seven Grandfather Teachings in all we do – Wisdom, Truth, Humility, Courage, Honesty, Truth, and Love.
Alfred Joseph, Elder, Akisq’nuk
“A lot of the Indigenous people say that they have to live in two worlds, but the two worlds don’t have to be— one doesn’t have to be poverty. I believe that there’s a richness in Aboriginal knowledge.”
